    Bonnaroo 2020 announces lineup for its virtual festival

    Bonnaroo 2020 announced its full lineup for its virtual festival, Bonnaroo Presents: Virtual Roo-ality, which is scheduled to take place from Sept. 24-26.

    The announcement comes just three months after the festival announced its cancellation.  The festival initially postponed the event for three months but then canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.  

    Featured this year will be appearances by A-Trak, Big Gigantic, Charli XCX, Chromeo, David Lynch, Denzel Curry, Devin Dawson, ERNEST, Galactic, Hayley Williams, and more.  

    Dug from the archives, the festival will also be featuring previous performances by Alabma Shakes (2015); Dave Mathews and Friends (2014); Jack White (2014); James Brown (2003) Metallica (2008); The White Stripes (2007); The xx (2017); and of course The Beastie Boys’ final performance in 2009 to name a few.

    Bonnaroo has already announced its dates for its 2021 edition, which is anticipated to take place from June 17-20 in Manchester, Tennessee.  Festival-goers can follow the event on social media or visit the festival’s official webpage for further details and announcements.

    Developed by AC Entertainment and Superfly Presents, Bonnaroo is an annual festival that takes place in Tennesee and features a broad spectrum of acts from a multitude of genres.  Some of its previous acts include performances by Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Kanye West and Paul McCartney.

    Cosmic Gate announced a two-part virtual concert series, which is scheduled to stream performances from Miami’s The Temple House dream-factory on Oct. 3 and Oct. 17.  Tickets are currently on sale for the dual event and can be purchased at the following link.

    The electronic dance music duo intends to take premium live streaming to new heights with these performances.  The duo will be implementing within their set visuals and technology created by Emmy-nominated artists in addition to numerous ways fans can get involved at home.  

    The duo will kick-off the live streaming extravaganza with a set Oct. 3 titled “For Your Mind,” which will be a two-hour modern performance with retina enhancing visuals.  There will be a plethora of new and exclusive Cosmic Gate composed music to accompany the graphics.  Music featured within the set will include their collaboration with Andrew Bayer on, “The Launch” as well as remixes of Andrew Rayel’s new single, “Everything Everything.” Also included will be the recent releases, “Universal Love” and “Your Mind.”

    Their second live stream on Saturday, Oct. 17 appropriately titled, “The Classics” will presumably feature the duo’s trance induced classics throughout the performance; however, more details regarding this stream are still yet to be announced.

    Nocturnal Wonderland 2020 announced its lineup for its Virtual Rave-A-Thon, which is scheduled to take place Friday, Sept. 18, and Saturday, Sept. 19 from 6 pm-12 am PT on Insomniac TV and can be watched here

    Hosted by Insomniac’s Founder Pasquale Rotella, the event will feature performances by 4B, Barely Alive, Benny Bennassi, Black Gummy, Borgore, Chris Lorenzo, Drezo, GG Magree, Justin Martin, Luke Andy, Mark Knight, Modestep, Nitti Gritti, Rabbit In The Moon (Live), Schade, and VNSSA.

    Nocturnal Wonderland is expected to return in 2021 on Sept. 18 and 19 at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, California.  The lineup has still yet to be revealed but its 2019 event saw performances by JAUZ, Joy Ryde, Mat Zo,  Zeds Dead, and Zomboy.  Pre-sale tickets have been released and can be purchased at the following link.  Tickets start at $99 for two days with a $9.99 deposit.  Camping passes do not include festival passes. .This will be an 18 and over event.

    ZHU announces the release, ‘Risky Business’

    ZHU announced the release of a brand new single titled, “Risky Business” which is currently available to stream and download via Astralwerks here.

    The track premiered on the artists second installment of his livestream, CLUB ZHUM where he performed in his “Zhudio.”  His set incorporated some of the merchandise that he has released in collaboration with the video.  The artist recently celebrated the second anniversary of the release, Ringos Desert with a limited-edition vinyl

    The ominous, mesmerizing track features ZHU’s faint vocals, which entice the listener to “risk it all” and enter the dark of the unknown.

    The official video, which ZHU directed alongside Joey Vitalari with Kristin Schaefer as its producer, was shot in Los Angeles.  The video shoots a series of jumpy footage taken within a bedroom.  With the video fading from black and white, the video captures the provocative nature of unknown subjects.  ZHU appears in the final frames of the video with a mysterious cameo as mysterious as the song itself.  Fans can view the video here.

    In accordance with this release, the artist has also launched his own merchandise collection inspired by the video.  Within it includes an orange fur coat, a hazmat suit, an evidence bag, safety glasses on a chain, a duffle bag, and T-shirts.  All items are available by chance in mystery bags.     The San Francisco Bay area native Steven Zhu, most commonly referred to by his stage name ZHU, received wide stream acclaim in 2014 with the single “Moves Like Ms. Jackson.”  Since, he has received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording for his breakthrough single, “Faded.”  His debut album, Generationwhy debuted at number one on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.  The artist has recently emerged in the fashion industry with his fashion-forward merchandise collection and aims to produce a fashion show at upcoming shows.

    MUTEK Festival announces over 100 acts for 2020

    MUTEK Festival announced that it would be returning in 2020 with over 100 acts for this year’s edition.  The Montreal based festival is scheduled to take place from Sept. 8-13 an will be divided into two parts, the music festival, and the forum.

    The festival, which will host over 100 acts and 59 performances with local acts scheduled to be in-person at Place des Arts’ Cinquième Salle and Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) with social distancing measuring in place.  Both local and international acts will be made available to watch on MUTEK’s virtual platform.

    There will be a number of series scheduled to take place. The Play series will be held from Sept. 8 to 11 at Place des Arts’ Cinquième Salle with Alexis Langevin-Tétrault, Anne-F Jacques, and GGROUNDD involved.  The Experience series will feature Chris Salter & Alexandre Saunier, Guillaume Coutu-Dumont, Ouri, Zandoli II & the Wasafiri, and more.  Finally, The Nocturne series will be taking place from Sept. 11 to 13 in an immersive 360-degree Satosphère space.

    Performances will include Bionautas (Jonas Kopp & Flor del Valle), George Hurd, Joana Gomila, Marina Herlop, Molly, Junichi Akagawa, Hiroaki Umeda, Arushi Jain & Carly Lave, Maotik & Maarten Vos, Grand River & Marco C, Wasted Fates & Future Forward and more.

    Further, there will also be an interactive gallery, a screening room presenting content from the MUTEK Forum, and a listening room that is dedicated to audio from the last 20 years of the festival.

    In the MUTEK forum, there will be over 30 panels, presentations, and case studies to be involved in that range from a number of topics from artificial intelligence to the impact technology has had on society.

    Thanks to the pioneering California company, Clipo Labs, CEO Faryar Ghazanfari said that he created the Multiverse when he learned that Burning Man was canceled.

    On Aug. 11, Florian Picasso performed a Livestream event to honor his late great-grandfather, Pablo Picasso, at the Villa Californie in Cannes.  Fans can still experience the event by visiting Florian’s Facebook page at the following link.

    The performance, which featured stunning visuals, architectural projections, and a light show, exceeded all expectations as millions watched the performance broadcast live.  The Villa Californie is where Pablo Picasso created a number of his artistic masterpieces and is also where Florian Picasso produces much of his music.

    The performance saw the premiere of a number of new tracks.  In response to the event, Picasso stated,

    “I’m very happy we were able to do something this special here in Cannes. Turning the entire house into a moving piece of art felt like the right way to pay tribute to what this place represents and the history it has.     Florian Picasso is the great-grandson of the artist Pablo Picasso who adopted him from Vietnam after he was born.  He has become a powerhouse in the dance music community and has recently released a number of tracks including:  “Like You Do” ft Gashi & Ally Brooke, “Restart Your Heart” with GRX, and “Armageddon” with Timmy Trumpet.

    On Aug. 13, Beatport Reconnect announced a fundraising partnership between Nicole Moudaber, WILD Tulum, and Factory People to present a 2-part DJ marathon titled, ‘Together For Beirut’ on Saturday, Aug. 22 and Saturday, Sept. 23, 2020.

    With COVID-19 wreaking havoc across the world, Lebanon was faced with another disaster as an explosion devastated Beirut last week and affected hundreds of thousands of people.  ‘Together For Beirut’ will be a fundraising online event, which will help those in need during these difficult times.

    Presented by Beatport, who has been at forefront of live streaming since the pandemic hit, the music platform will aim to raise over $250,000 in disaster relief funds for those in dire need.

    “These fundraising events will provide much-needed relief and support to the people of Beirut and the many affected by the recent tragedy. Officials estimate the explosion caused up to $15 billion (£11.5bn) of damage. International financial aid and support have been overwhelming, but it’s not enough. We must support in any way we can to help, and in addition, our efforts will also be helping the music and arts industry of Lebanon which has been wiped out.”

    On Aug. 13, Groove Cruise announced details for an end-of-summer, Livestream event, ‘Virtual Sail Aways Live,’ which is scheduled to take place from Aug. 21-23, 2020 on their Twitch channel.

    The event will also include a Night Swim After Hours event, which is reputed to stream for over 24 hours with live music.  Also featured amidst the stream will be Whet Travel’s interactive WhetZoom video chat room for viewers to watch, dance, and donate together, simulating an in-person Groove Cruise sailing.

    Whet Travel, the pioneers behind the first floating music festival, revealed that there will also be donation incentives including free Groove Cruise merchandise, Artist Activities, and backstage experiences aboard their upcoming Miami sailing on Jan 7-11, 2021.

    All proceeds will go to Whet Travel’s 501c3 nonprofit that focuses on giving back to those facing hardships and creates exciting experiences for underprivileged children in South Florida, the Caribbean, and Mexico.   Groove Cruise’s previous virtual extravaganza saw over 100,000 viewers across all platforms. 

    The Groove Cruise Twitch will be the main hub and where donations will be collected.     Disclosure announce live stream ahead of album release

    On Aug. 13, Grammy-nominated UK duo, Disclosure announced a live stream event in partnership with Amazon Music, which is scheduled to take place on Aug. 17 from The Plitvice Lakes in Croatia at 1 pm ET (10 am PT.)  The virtual event will take place just two weeks before their album, Energy, will be released on all platforms on Aug. 28 via Capitol Records.     The duo has already released three tracks, which are set to debut on their forthcoming album including, “ENERGY,” “My High” featuring Aminé and slowthai, and the uplifting “Douha (Mali Mali)” featuring Fatoumata Diawara.  All songs showcase the duo’s versatility in style and production ability.

    Florian Picasso announces livestream to honor his grandfather

    On Aug. 7, Florian Picasso announced that he would be paying tribute to his grandfather, Pablo Picasso, in an exclusive livestream performance from the Picasso Villa Californie in Cannes on Aug. 11 at 9:30 CEST.  Fans can tune-in on Facebook to watch the livestream here.

    Previously inhabited by the great Pablo Picasso himself, the magnificent villa is where some of the artist’s great masterpieces were created including “The Bay of Cannes” in 1958.  The villa has become an ‘unparalleled place of inspiration’ to Forian Picasso who based his recording studio in the same place his grandfather used to work on his art.  

    To honor his artistic heritage, Florian Picasso decided to broadcast a special livestream event during the sunset along the French Riviera. The set will close with an exclusive 10 minute soundtrack exclusively produced for the performance.  With villa as its backdrop, spectators will take-in breathtaking architectural projections, lighting, and pyrotechnic displays.  The set will premiere new records from Florian and will end with a very special announcement that will pay tribute the historical heritage of his family.

    On Aug. 7, Outside Lands, the annual California festival, announced that it would be hosting a free virtual event titled, Inside Lands, which is scheduled to take place on Aug. 28-29, 2020 at 4 pm PT exclusively on Twitch.

    Inside Lands will be featuring two days of never-before-seen footage to celebrate the twelve years of the event which takes place within the Bay Area each year.   Fans can tun-in as the event will include a number of its  iconic archival sets, exclusive live performances, interviews with artists plus features with festival curators and small businesses.

    Tickets for Outside Lands 2021 are currently on sale now.  The festival is anticipating to return to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco from Aug. 6-8, 2021.   Next year’s event is scheduled to feature performances by Tame Impala, Lizzo, The Strokes, Tyler, The Creator, Vampire Weekend, J Balvin, Kehlani and many more.  3-Day GA, VIP, and Golden Gate Club passes can be purchased at the following link.
