Carl Cox will kick-off Ibiza Soul Food event series

Carl Cox will kick-off Ibiza Soul Food on December 12, 2020, which will be an online series of events to support the Ibiza Food Bank to those in urgent need of food on the beloved island.

Carl Cox - Ibiza Soul Food
Carl Cox – Ibiza Soul Food

Pioneered by Universe, Ibiza Soul Food will be hosted exclusively in Woov, a virtual venue to bring the world together to enjoy live music experiences.  Gathering more than 250 volunteers who will deliver food to those in need, the event series will be delivering a number of live performances to those at home all for a great cause.

“Ibiza has been a second home to me for many years. The island is a breeding ground of creativity, amazing friendships, and incredible people. Some of these people now need our help in these turbulent times and I’m super excited to be part of the first Ibiza Soul Food edition.”

    Carl Cox

Ibiza’s music scene has provided unforgettable memories to millions of people who visit the island each year. Now, it is the time to give something back to the people who help nurture the scene in a time when they need it the most.

Much of the island is currently out of work including thousands of businesses that depend on clubbing and tourism.  Among them include bartenders, venue staff, promo teams on the ground, entertainers, hotel receptionists, and sound and lighting teams. These are the people that have made the clubbing experience of Ibiza, delivering some of the best music events for travelers to revel in the Balearic magic. With the devastation of COVID-19, it has left many people without work for over a year, and it is becoming harder each day.

Supported by some of the biggest names and brands that are synonymous with the White Isle, Ibiza Soul Food will help support the people of Ibiza through the winter. 100% of the money raised will be used to purchase coupons for fresh food. These will be given alongside weekly food parcels that are delivered and collected by 5000-6000 people each week.

“We are grateful to Universe and Woov to be able to announce the first in our series of online music events, Ibiza Soul Food and even more excited that one of the first DJ’s to step up to the plate and support us is the mighty Carl Cox alongside Bushwacka, Syreeta and Secret Society’s Mark Greene that are also supporting us.”

Tina Browning, one of the coordinators of the Ibiza Food Bank

2020 has been an extraordinary year and has made us all realize how fragile things can be. Being asked to help raise awareness and feed families in Ibiza is almost unimaginable which is why we stepped straight in and the first call was to the King, Carl Cox. Hopefully, Coxy’s example will encourage others to get on board and for people to join in – after all it’s only £2 for four hours of music.”

    Alon Shulman, CEO Universe

  • Hot Since 82 & Ed Graves collaborate on, ‘Sinnerman’

Hot Since 82 & Ed Graves collaborate on, ‘Sinnerman’

Hot Since 82 & Ed Graves announced the release of a brand new single, “Sinnerman,” which is off Hot Since 82’s debut album Recovery, available to stream/download here.

“Sinnerman” marks Ed Graves’s first release as a debut artist as he provided the lyrics, the vocals, and the guitar riffs to the track.  The track is featured alongside massive collaborations on Hot Since 82’s full-length studio album, Recovery, which includes the likes of Boy George and Rudimental. The album also features a track with Liz Cass, who Graves has worked alonside as well.

“I was introduced to Daley (Hot Since ’82) via Liz Cass. I’ve been producing and writing for her project for a year now. I recorded the guitars on Daley’s single, which was the first release from ‘Recovery’ called Eye of the Storm (feat. Liz Cass) — ‘Sinnerman’ came about when Daley got in touch to make some more music together. He had this idea he sent over and I immediately felt inspired – I sent him back over a demo vocal for ‘Sinnerman’ and he loved it. We made the tune during the Covid lockdown and the idea of a sinner man came from a feeling of a broken system and those in control that take advantage from a standpoint of greed. I later added some guitars on the track and we called my friend Oli Jacobs to mix the production.”

    Ed Graves

Ed Graves is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has worked with Grammy Award-winning artists, producers, and engineers. His experience includes curating music events for highly regarded hospitality groups and writing music for both television and film.  The artist has also worked with the Red Bull Music Academy, was a part of the Harvard Law School Recording Artists Project, and has opened for Maroon 5 and Journey.  For additional information on Ed Graves, please visit his official website.

To support his album release, Recovery, Hot Since 82 will be performing a special live-stream set from a hot air balloon this Saturday, November 28 at 8 pm GMT at the following link.

    Digital Mirage Friendsgiving lineup

Digital Mirage’s virtual festivals have raised over $300,000 for a number of causes including Sweet Relief Musicians, the Equal Justice Initiative, and Color of Change.  In line with its previous iterations, Digital Mirage Friendsgiving in partnership with Plus1 will also be accepting donations for the National Independent Venue Association‘s #SaveOurStages initiative.  #SaveOurStages supports the most vulnerable venues to help keep them afloat with respective COVID-19 relief funds.

“It all started when Proximity and Brownies & Lemonade published their own tweets to ask artists and those of the electronic music community if they would be interested in hosting a festival style stream. We received an influx of support from fans and artists who wanted to be involved over the course of two weeks since those tweets. Since we both had the same idea and same audience, we decided to join as co-branded partners to host one large festival with the intent to raise as much money as possible for those out of work amid COVID-19 closures.”

  • Sessions announces $75M marketing fund to promote livestreams

Sessions announces $75M marketing fund to promote livestreams

Live streaming platform Sessions announced that it will be making a $75 million marketing fund for musicians to promote and build audiences on its platform.

Co-founded by digital music pioneer and Pandora founder Tim Westergren and serial virtual game entrepreneur Gordon Su, Sessions stands alone as the only platform making a direct investment in audience development.  The rapidly growing service combines the power of live performance with the most sophisticated techniques of advanced virtual gaming to create a platform where artists build real audiences and earn a substantial and steady income.

Just some of the artists who have leveraged the marketing of Sessions include iconic duo Icona Pop, singer/songwriter Ally Brooke, Jake Miller, Matthew Goode, Lee Brice, James Lee, and K-pop sensation Eric Nam.   Other established artists who are about to come on board with the platform include legendary country artist Hank Williams Jr, Bare Naked Ladies, EnVogue, Xzibit, and multi-platinum-selling Scotty McCreery who are set to perform in the coming weeks.

Featuring artists in over 200 countries, Sessions allows performers to cultivate audiences and earn money at unprecedented rates.  Amateur musicians are making as much as $700 per hour-long show while working musicians are earning upwards of $20,000 for a single performance

“We have a very simple goal. To help artists earn.  That takes two things that have been in very short supply for the vast majority of musicians: marketing and monetization. We have a highly developed set of monetization skills, and that, along with the efficiency of our growth engine affords us the capacity to invest in audience development. Our business model essentially makes us a true partner to the artist. I think that’s a first for digital music.

Every day another livestreaming company joins the fray. But artists don’t need more tools. They need platforms that generate audience and revenue and whose business models put the lion’s share of that revenue directly into the artists’ pocket. That’s Sessions.”

    Tim Westergren, Pandora founder

“It has taken ten years to develop this software and hone these capabilities.  With Sessions for the first time, working artists have in their hands the kind of scaled technology usually confined to massive online consumer platforms. Sessions finds, attracts, and monetizes fandom at a rate never seen before in this industry.”

Gordon Su, Co-founder and CEO of Sessions

Co-founded by Pandora founder Tim Westergren and seasoned game developer Gordon Su, Sessions stands alone as the only platform that is actually spending money on marketing to help artists build a fanbase and earn an income.  For additional information on Sessions, please visit its official website.

“I Admit It” features an alternative vibe with a scintillating verse from 24 Goldn across its sonic landscape.  The track is a follow-up to ZHU’s hit “Risky Business,” which saw its premiere back in Sept.

Directed by Joey Vitalari, the accompanying video unfolds on the production floor of a factory where machinery has been repurposed to produce ZHU’s fashion line.  After the assembly line wraps up production for the day, the workers slip into pieces from the stunning, forward-thinking collection and take to the improvised factory floor catwalk as ZHU and 24kGoldn perform.  Fans can watch the stunning video below.

No stranger to fashion, ZHU launched his own “Risky Business” fashion line to accompany his last release and now is returning with an “I Admit It” fashion show.  Scheduled to take place on Nov. 13 in downtown Los Angeles, the fashion show will also feature a never before seen Blacklizt set.  A limited number of passes are currently available and will be made available to those selected in a random drawing.   Fans can enter their names to enter for a pass and find all of the COVID-19 protocols for the fashion show here.

The “I Admit It” fashion show and Blacklizt set will premiere on Luminosity Gaming’s live Twitch stream later that night which can be seen at the following link.

“This is our 2nd collaboration with ZHU. There is a natural fit between his music and our gaming audience, and we look forward to continuing to partner on unique content experiences.”

Adrian Montgomery, CEO of Enthusiast Gaming, the parent company of Luminosity Gaming

ZHU worked alongside his creative director, Emmy Slattery, to create a peerless array of merchandise. ZHU’s “I Admit It” merchandise collection features designs seen in the music video including faux fur coats, plastic duffle bags, plastic perforated hazmat suits, airbrushed sweaters, trench coats, a cape with accent orange stitching, and many graphic tees and long sleeves.  The Fall/Winter 2020 line will be available for a limited time in ZHU’s online store beginning November 16 and at his pop-up store in downtown Los Angeles from November 17-21. Reserve a spot at the pop-up here or get a glimpse of the collection here.

Over the course of 2020, ZHU has been streaming live during quarantine from various locations including his own CLUB ZHUM, his Zhudio, from Sand Dunes Park in Utah as part of Virtual Lollapalooza, and from Billings, Montana as part of Tito’s Made To Order Festival.  For additional information on the artist, release, or fashion line, please visit his official webpage at the following link.
