Grammy-award-winning artists The Chemical Brothers announce the release of a mind-bending, new single, “The Darkness That You Feel” which is available to stream/download now via Republic Records.
The Chemical Brothers – The Darkness That You Fear
Opening with a mystifying vocal, “The Darkness That You Fear” is a true, one-of-a-kind Chemical Brothers production that pairs two contrasting vocal samples into one seamless recording. With an indie, psychedelic vibe, the track sonically shifts from darkness into light to deliver an overarching message of hope for the future of the world. This track marks the duo’s first release since their Grammy Award-winning 2019 album, No Geography.
“’The Darkness That You Fear’ is a hopeful piece of music. When we found the combination of the different voices worked set to the flow of the music, it made us feel optimistic—like it was something we wanted to share.”
Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers
To accompany the release, the pair also announced the debut of a kaleidoscopic animated visual for the track. Directed by Ruffmercy, the Bristol-based artist has previously worked with the likes of Thom Yorke, Run The Jewels, and DJ Shadow.
“When I first heard the song I immediately connected with the theme and the overall positive vibe. New government rules for relaxing lockdown had been announced and combined with the sun shining, it left me feeling positive about the forthcoming summer. It also triggered a strong sense of nostalgia that led to me going back to look for visual inspiration from the period in time when I first discovered The Chemical Brothers in the mid ’90s. The video combines archive rave footage from the mid to late ’90s with hand-painted Super 8 film textures and hand-drawn animation. I love using color to create chaos and evoke emotions and this was the perfect project to do that.”

The Chemical Brothers will be headlining this year’s Creamfields festival in Daresbury, Cheshire on Friday, August 26. For additional information on The Chemical Brothers, please the following website.

“2 years have already passed since I met Felix, and it’s amazing what has happened so far. After 3 remixes that I was allowed to do for Felix, several shows that he took me to, and a lot of time in the studio that we spent together, the time has finally come: the first single together! For several months we have been looking for the right song for the collaboration and we finally found it. “Where The Lights Are Low” is a very special song for me and I am super happy that we can finally show it to the world. I’m glad that Felix is no longer just my mentor, but has become a really good friend. This is just the beginning of Toby Romeo!”
Toby Romeo
“Toby played local support at one of my shows in Italy, 2018. After my set, I met him backstage and listened to some of his demos. I was amazed by the level of his productions at such a young age and fell in love with his drive, energy, and passion. I immediately felt that he wanted to go to the top and that he was willing to work and learn as much as needed to make his dreams come true. His passion and energy inspired me that day, and for the first time ever I felt like I wanted to truly push a talent and become a mentor. We exchanged contacts that night and have now worked on his project together for over two years. After several remixes for singles of mine, Alok, and Alan Walker, we finally celebrate his first major release on Universal Music. Our collab “Where The Lights Are Low” is another milestone on his way to becoming Austria’s biggest DJ. I’m grateful to be a part of his journey.”
Felix Jaehn
“I’ve always wanted to do something with “The Riddle” since it’s one of my favorite songs, the melody is just amazing. To do this together with Toby Romeo and legend Felix Jaehn is a true honor. I’m super excited for this release and I can’t wait to share it with the world!’
FAULHABER
Toby Romeo broke onto the scene at the pressing age of 13 years old. Glass Animals share the official music video for the hit track ‘Tangerine,’ which is featured off the band’s third album Dreamland, which is available to stream/download via Republic Recordshere.
Glass Animals – Tangerine
The official music video for “Tangerine” explores the passing of time in a way that only Glass Animals could. Singer/songwriter and producer of Glass Animals, Dave Bayley says in a press release,
“The song is about seeing someone get lost in the unimportant things in the world…to the point where they lose what made them unique and incredible. We’re all born naive and curious and playful and open and vulnerable…and over time those parts of us can get stifled…sometimes too much…to the point where all that child-like joy and curiosity is gone except for a tiny little glint of it that appears all too rarely, like a ghost in the eyes.
I have to thank director David Wilson hugely for this one–we talked about that theme, and he came up with the beautiful, cyclical narrative for this video. I fell in love with it when he told me the idea, but I was petrified of having to act. I have always hated the idea of doing any sort of ‘acting’…however small or subtle the role. But he was so sure I could do it. and I have to say I had a lot of fun trying.”
Since its release back in August, Glass Animals’ Dreamlandhas made headlines as it entered the UK Chart at number two behind Taylor Swift and went straight into the Top 10 on the Billboard Chart in the US. The hit track from the album, “Heat Waves” has amassed over 70 million streams to date, entered Spotify’s Top 200 Chart, and was performed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert back in August. For additional information on Glass Animals, please visit their official website.
Italian production trio Meduza recently shared a riveting live set from Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck in Iceland for Selected Sessions.
This announcement follows the trio’s recent collaborative release, “Paradise” where they paired up with Dermot Kennedy, which has garnered 30 million streams worldwide. “Paradise” is currently out now via Republic Records at the following link.
In response to the Selected Sessions Iceland set, Meduza says,
“In Sept 2020, during a break in the lockdown, Selected Session asked us to come to Iceland to film a DJ Set at Sunrise at one of the most insane locations we could imagine, the Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck. We immediately agreed.
Over the next 4 days, we had hardly any sleep as we made this happen with an outstanding team of people!!
The reward was an utterly breath-taking sunrise which happened during our set, to say we felt this was our personal paradise at that moment is an understatement.
This Session took place in the deep south of Iceland, surrounded by hundreds of miles of black sand and mountains. We were hours from civilization, exposed to the raw elements with nothing but each other and the beautiful nature that surrounded us. We were isolated, cut-off, and alone. The location for this Session plays homage to this year and the challenges it has presented us with and, most importantly, serves as a reminder to us all that wherever you are and however lost and lonely it may seem, hope can always be found.
We hope you enjoy the DJ set and the location/scenery as much as we did.
Huge thanks to Iceland Air and Zo oN who made this happen alongside Selected, Covert, and JAMZ and our incredible management team.”
