Steve Aoki cakes over Brooklyn Mirage on Heavenly Hell tour

Steve Aoki celebrated the release of his 9th studio album, Paragon by hosting an exhilarating album release party at the Brooklyn Mirage on Friday, June 28 while also kicking off his worldwide Heavenly Hell Tour this summer.

Steve Aoki – Heavenly Hell (ft. NE-YO) off his new album, Paragon

Opening with a galvanizing performance of his iconic hit “Turbulence,” Steve Aoki erupted the sold-out venue into buoyant revelry as flames propelled on stage before the elated audience, further emphasizing the track’s pulverizing beat.  Lining the venue from wall to wall, thousands of colorful, buoyant fans celebrated with Aoki as he delivered a brazen, interactive set, which featured some of his most iconic releases, new IDs, and tracks off  his album Paragon released that day.

Known for his showmanship on stage, Aoki was was clearly not performing “for” the crowd, but was performing “with” them, in cohesion. The energy that he exuded on stage set forth an instantaneous matched reaction in the audience, which can only be described as contagious. Brimming with high-energy, Aoki unleashed festival favorites , “No Beef,” “Boneless,” and his famous remixes,  “Pursuit of Happiness” for Kid Cudi and “Mic Drop” for BTS

The artist also featured new tracks from his album that included his new Kid Cudi collaboration, “ELECTROWAVEBABY2.0,” “3 Days” (Hyro Energy Remix), and his highly-anticipated collaboration with Lil Jon, “Get Lower’ ‘ which saw its premiere at Tomorrowland last summer.

Steve Aoki – Tomorrowland 2023 – Full Set

Jordan Grace joined Aoki on stage in a surprise live vocal performance of “Save My Soul,” Aoki’s recent collaborative release with Afrojack under the joint moniker Afroki. The performance became another focal point of Aoki’s command over his audience as it kicked off with stirring angelic vocals by Grace and rapidly transformed into reverberating, heavy techno-leaning beats within seconds.

While some DJs tend to distance themselves from performing older music, Steve Aoki’s set had a nostalgic and endearing quality to it by reviving some of dance music’s most coveted classics. These included, “Runaway (U&I) by Galantis, “A Million Voices” by Otto Knows, and “Better Off Alone” by Alice Deejay to name a few. This further engaged the audience as the lyrics were belted out in unison while Aoki intermixed the vocals with other productions to make them sound revitalized and original.

To conclude the festivities in true Aoki fashion, the artist unleashed a myriad of sheet cakes to hurl at the crowd as people began pointing to their faces chanting, “Cake Me”  while others emerged on top of shoulders with signs and T-shirts with messages for the artist to “cake.” Further uniting the crowd, the artist smashed at least 10 sheet cakes into the faces of the audience with those being hit jumping up and down with glee while others were seen laughing as they cleaned icing off each other’s faces.  This clearly became the memorable moment of the night and redefined a boring answer to the question, “What did you do over the weekend?”

Steve Aoki’s Heavenly Hell Tour is scheduled to take over a number of cities around the world as he previews releases of his album Paragon. The artist will also be bringing along fellow Dim Mak artists, Callie Reiff, Deorro, Nostalgix, Pickle, Cheyenne Giles, Yetep, Ookay, Henry Fong, and Wolfgang Gartner, to join him on select stops. “Heavenly Hell ” received its name from the vibrant first single featured on the album, Paragon with three-time, Grammy award-winning hitmaker NE-YO.  For additional information on the tour, please visit Aoki’s official website.

Grammy-nominated dance music artist Steve Aoki teams up with fellow producers GATTÜSO and Aukoustics to revitalize R.E.M.’s classic release,  “Losing My Religion,” (ft. MKLA)  that is available to stream/download now via Ultra Music.

Steve Aoki, GATTÜSO, & Aukoustics – Losing My Religion

Opening with MKLA’s alluring vocals, Steve Aoki, GATTÜSO, Aukoustics, transform “Losing My Religion” into a futuristic-house dance rendition of the timeless original.  With enrapturing vocals, recognizable lyrics, and Steve Aoki’s iconic sound, the release becomes as timeless as ever as it triumphs into a vibrant single of today.

“Losing My Religion is my favorite of all R.E.M. songs, and I loved them growing up as a kid.  It was time to bring it back and make a 2021 version for the dancefloor that people wouldn’t expect. We flipped it and made it special.”

    Steve Aoki

“Steve had a clear vision for how it would need to be sculpted and I learned a lot in the process. It’s great to see this plan come together after a lot of work, and I’m excited for everyone to hear it.”

    GATTÜSO

  • Steve Aoki & Yves V team up on Avril Lavigne rework ‘Complicated’

Steve Aoki & Yves V team up on Avril Lavigne rework ‘Complicated’

Famed electronic music acts Steve Aoki & Yves V team up on a stellar rework of Avril Lavigne’s classic pop-punk hit “Complicated” featuring Ryan Caraveo available to stream/download now via Dim Mak.

Steve Aoki & Yves V – Complicated ft. Ryan Caraveo

Transforming the original into an astounding electronic-pop soundscape, Steve Aoki & Yves V revive “Complicated” with a fresh modernized dance music twist. Featuring the striking vocal talent of alt-hip hop artist Ryan Caraveo, the artist spins the track’s lyrics toward self-criticism, taking on a more introspective approach.  Showcasing the original’s earworm hook to make it easy to sing along to, the track embeds a futuristic sound with a soothing vibe perfect for the summer season.

Directed by John Frost, “Complicated” comes paired with an official music video that gazes into the dreams of the track’s artists Steve Aoki, Yves V, and Ryan Caraveo.  Aligned perfectly in sync with the track’s lyrics, the visual represents how truly “complicated” one’s mind can be.

My roots are in the punk scene, and that kind of music has always had a special place in my heart. So when Yves brought the idea to me to rework ‘Complicated’ by the ultimate pop punk queen, Avril Lavigne, I jumped on the opportunity. And the lyricism Ryan brought with his new verses only expands upon the truly classic hook.”

    Steve Aoki

“I was so excited to link up with Steve Aoki on this single as our first collaboration. I’m a huge fan of pop music, and Avril as an artist, so to add our electronic spin alongside one of my favourite peers onto a track as classic as ‘Complicated,’ and bring it to audiences in 2021, felt amazing. I hope the fans enjoy it just as much as we did creating our production!”

    Yves V

Man, working with Steve Aoki is really a full-circle moment for me. Back in 2013, I was just a kid at one of his shows – fast forward many years to a completely different life, and all the sudden we’re working together and covering one of the biggest songs ever from the queen herself Avril Lavigne and it’s pretty surreal to be honest. I’ve always loved and been influenced by electronic music and cannot wait to hear this at the festival with the homies.

    Ryan Caraveo

“Complicated” is the latest collaboration between Steve Aoki & Yves V since the former mixed “A Lover And A Memory” off of Aoki’s Neon Future III LP.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic last year, the festival postponed its 2020 edition, a decision which the Chicago Mayor called “difficult.”

“Here in Chicago, the word ‘Lollapalooza’ has always been synonymous with summer, great music, and four days of unforgettable fun – which made last year’s decision to postpone it all the more difficult.

Now, less than a year later and armed with a vaccine that is safe, effective, and widely available, we are able to bring back one of our city’s most iconic summer music festivals,” Lightfoot continued. “I want to thank the Lollapalooza team for working closely with the City to create a reopening strategy that prioritizes safety and can’t wait to see festivalgoers return to Grant Park this summer.”

     Lori LIghtfoot, Chicago Mayor

Full COVID-19 vaccination or negative test results within 24 hours before attending the festival will be required for admission, in accordance with current public health guidance. Further details on the festival entry process will be available in early July, officials said.

Steve Aoki reveals exclusive NFT art collection, ‘Dream Catcher’

Dance music entrepreneur, Steve Aoki debuts his first-ever digital artwork collection, ‘Dream Catcher’ on Sunday, March 7 at 2 PM EST via an exclusive partnership with Nifty Gateway.

A collaborative project between Steve Aoki and world class 3D illustrator Antoni Tudisco, ‘Dream Catcher’ is a psychedelic collection made up of 11 unique works of art paired with boundary pushing soundscapes with cutting edge digital animations.  Antoni’s surrealist 3D graphics bounce and shapeshift in real time with Aoki’s experimental aural textures. Please see below where a preview of a piece titled “run” was shared on social media.

The three-part drop encompasses one limited edition piece available via a 23-hour auction, two open edition works available for purchase during a five-minute window, and eight items available for purchase through packs while supplies last. The exclusive limited-edition auction piece and several of the pack pieces come with a seven-inch permanently treated display case looping on infinite replay bringing the digital world to the physical world with this unique feature.

Tokenized on the Ethereum blockchain, “Dream Catcher” is available via non-fungible tokens (NFTs). NFTs are digital assets whose ownership can be verified instantly via the blockchain, allowing anyone to collect and own art in the same way that one can collect paintings or sculptures. Using the blockchain to enforce scarcity and prove authenticity, Nifty Gateway is the premier marketplace to buy, sell, and store NFTs. The platform provides an accessible point of entry for consumers to participate in the future of art, collectibles, and commerce as a whole.  For additional information on Steve Aok’s & Antoni Tudisco’s ‘Dream Catcher’ digital art collection, please visit Nitty Gateway’s official website.
