    RETROSPEKT announces its 2021 lineup

RETROSPEKT 2021 announces an eclectic lineup for its two-day, micro music and art festival at the Moxy South Beach on July 10-11, 2021.

Scheduled to deliver a diverse array of programming and talent, RETROSPEKT 2021 will feature over 50 live acts from all genres of music spanning blues, rock, rap, pop, R&B, funk, soul, reggae, dance music, and more.  With headlining performances by Chromeo, Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah, Sabrina Claudio, and Tycho’s new project ISO50, the two-day event will also feature another up-and-coming talent including DJ Minx, Eli Escobar, Tik Tok sensation Blu DeTiger, British R&B crooner Col3trane, and many more.

The music will be programmed across three specially designed custom stages with the main stage located at a pool.  There will also be a myriad of large-scale art installations, a drag queen brunch, and a focus on immersive and theatrical art.

“One thing you will notice is that our festival and lineup is rich in diversity. The problem with the quest to be more “diverse” rests in and with the key decision-maker….Taking a chance as talent on RETROSPEKT with a mission, like ours, allows talent/managers/agents and partners alike to take real and concrete steps to address bias and ensure access for the talent to the opportunities that remain closed to them.”

Lauren Kashuk, Founder and Creative Director of Ideaison, the producers, promoters, and creators of RETROSPEKT

Limited 2-day and single-day tickets to RETROSPEKT 2021 are currently on sale now at the festival’s official website.

Chromeo debut video for ‘Clorox Wipe’

Electro-funk duo Chromeo recently debuted a surreal video for their track, “Clorox Wipe” which is currently available to stream/download off their Quarantine Casanova EP here.

“Clorox Wipe” saw its release earlier this year as it was one of five tracks released off of their Quarantine Casanova EP, which were written and recorded under lockdown.

One-hundred percent of the net proceeds of sales from the EP’s digital downloads, physical sales, and merchandise will be donated to COVID-19 Relief. $20,000 has been donated to Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp COVID-19 Relief Fund plus an additional $55,000 match donation has been pledged by Clorox, totaling $75,000 in COVID-19 Relief Fund donations from both Chromeo and Clorox.

Directed by Patrick Jean, the video transforms Chromeo into paper-thin figures as they meander through Los Angeles and Las Vegas’s empty streams, eventually dancing atop a flat earth.

“It’s sort of an allegory for everything that’s been flattened since the beginning of the pandemic. Human interactions, our sense of time, our experience of space. As we’re confined to our screens, it’s all become two dimensional.”

“Right now, between the COVID uptick and the election, everyone’s an anxious mess.  As artists with a platform, it was our duty to raise awareness around the communities most affected by the virus. As purveyors of funky music, it’s also our duty to provide some levity, to lift people’s spirits. We hope this video can achieve that.”
