    2021 SXSW Online Music Festival reveals its full list of artists & presenters

    The 2021 SXSW Online Music Festival revealed its full list of 280 showcasing artists invited to perform online at the 35th annual event on March 16-20, 2021.

    Showcasing a unique and diverse lineup from iconic venues from around the world, new additions to the list of showcases and presenters include CaoTai Music, Crater Monde, China Gathering, Digital Love, Mint Talent Group, NPR Tiny Desk Meets SXSW, Pagal Haina, Third Culture, and Warner Records.

    The 2021 SXSW Online Music Festival showcases will be taking place Tuesday – Friday from 12:30 p.m.-10:00 p.m. CT and on Saturday from 11:00 am-9:30 pm CT. Showcases vary from 30 minutes to over an hour in length with 4-6 artists performing, but of course, there are exceptions with presenters using the format they feel is the most compelling. Showcases must be viewed when they air.  For pass holders in the eastern hemisphere, the schedule repeats over the next 12 hour cycle.

    South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival Online 2021 announced its initial list of showcasing artists scheduled to perform for its 35th annual event on March 16-20, 2021.

    Featuring a diverse range of showcases and presenters for this year’s performances, SXSW Online will include AfroFuture Sounds (British Underground & DAJU Presents), Hotel Vegas & Hotel Free TV, Damnably, EQ Austin, Jazz re:freshed Outernational, FOCUS Wales, Roskilde Festival, Taiwan Beats, Close Encounter Club, Sounds from Spain, M for Montreal, Flipped Coin KOREA, Carefree Black Girl, New Zealand Music, KUTX The Breaks, Dedstrange, Fierce Panda x End of the Trail, Brazil Inspires the Future and ÅÄÖ…Sounds Swedish.

    Each showcase will be featuring the sounds of tomorrow at unique venues in the artists’ home countries through a premium viewing experience, with streaming available via web, mobile, and the SXSW Online Connected TV app (Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, Samsung TV Plus, and Android TV).

    SXSW 2021 announces its initial wave of programming

    SXSW 2021 announced its initial wave of programming for SXSW Online, which is scheduled to take place on March 16–20, 2021.

    Known to feature conference sessions, music festival showcases, film festival screenings, and world-class networking, SXSW 2021 will continue to share its electrifying music and film offerings that the annual event is known to deliver. 

    SXSW Online will play host to over 50 speakers and 230 conference sessions with musician, philanthropist, and entrepreneur Willie Nelson as its Keynote.  Other speakers will include Samantha Bee, Sir Richard Branson, Nicholas Britell, Dave Burd (aka Lil Dicky), The Chainsmokers, Chiquis, Laurieann Gibson, Taraji P.     SXSW Online 2021 opens registration

    SXSW Online 2021 has opened registration for next year’s event, which is scheduled to take place on March 16-20, 2021 virtually.  SXSW decided to move its programming to an online format for 2021 due to COVID-19 concerns. 

    SXSW will be offering one pass that covers its entire online event that includes keynotes, conference sessions, music festival showcases, Film Festival screenings, world-class networking, and other unexpected discoveries expected by South By.

    South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual event held in Austin, Texas that merges film, interactive media, music festivals, and conferences.  The conference is known to grow in scope and size each year.  SXSW Music is the largest music festival of its kind in the world as it hosts thousands of acts.  It has catapulted the careers of major music artists including The White Stripes, Amy Winehouse, and Kid Cudi.  The event was forced to cancel its 2020 edition for the first time since it began in 1987 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

    South by Southwest (SWSW) announced SXSW Online for its 2021 edition with the event featuring conference keynotes, screenings, showcases, networking, and exhibitions. SXSW EDU Online will run from  March 9-11, 2021, and SXSW Online will take place from March 16 -20, 2021.

    PanelPicker proposals for SXSW and SXSW EDU will open for the digital experience on Oct. 6 and can be submitted here.  The event will also open Film Festival submissions on that date as well, which can be submitted here.
