Lindsey Stirling & Mako – Lose You Now

“Lose You Now,” which is a tribute to Stirling’s late father and best friend, is an emotive pop single that touches upon how it feels to lose a loved one.  The track stems from Stirling’s instrumental-only release “Guardian” which was off her latest chart-topping studio album Artemis.  Co-written by Stirling & Mako (Alex Seaver), “Lose You Now” was produced by Jason Evigan who is known for his work with Dua Lipa, Bebe Rexha, and Jonas Brothers. The official music video for the single was directed and edited by Stirling and Stephen Mallett.

“This song was on my album as an instrumental song, but I always knew it was really special. I am so grateful for Mako for the lyrics he wrote to ‘Lose You Now’ because he perfectly captured the feelings I’d never been able to put into words. I actually balled like a baby the first time I heard his version. I felt like my father and best friend (both of whom have passed away) were giving me a big warm hug. Creating this song and the music video has brought me a sense of peace. The video is full of special memories and signs that represent the people I’ve lost. I used to have cereal picnics with my dad. Whenever I see a monarch butterfly, I feel like my friend Gavi is checking in on me. The little fox stuffed animal represents my baby niece, who passed away this summer. These little Easter eggs and many more make this video so special to me. Now, as we release it, I hope to share that hug and healing with the world. We can all use it right now.”

“This was a really special song for me to be a part of. I was so lucky to meet Lindsey while working on her recent album when I worked on ‘Love Goes On And On’ with her and Amy Lee. More importantly, we became friends in that period of time. When word got to me that Lindsey was looking for a special vocal to accompany ‘Guardian,’ I remember being so completely moved by the subject of the song. Something about getting to know Lindsey and feeling a very sincere sense of care for her, the vocal just absolutely tumbled out. I remember getting choked up trying to even record it, it took me a few tries. I’m really grateful to be involved in this and looking forward to sharing the message of this song with everyone out there.”

Mako – Roller Coaster off Fable

Featuring a number of previous releases as well as some brand new originals, Fable is a creative piece of work that explores the depth of merging musical genres. It is a testament to Alex Seaver’s (Mako’s) ability to push new boundaries and explore the depth of a myriad of sounds.

Kicking off the album with the first single “Breathe,” which was previously released in 2017, the album begins with an air of familiarity as it features the velvety vocals of Mako woven into a soft and elaborate melody.  Other previous releases featured on the album include the pop-infused track “Murder” with uplifting rhythms, the guitar-driven “Coyote” with Mako’s robust vocals, in addition to the subsequent ‘Coyote (Midnight Mix)’ which adds a more ambient feel to its original.

Some of the artist’s 2020 singles on Fable include the collaboration with Elephante on “Chameleon,” the pop-centric single “Parable,” and the recent lead singles “Again” and “Ocelot.”

“Fable is a thrilling, terrifying, and deeply meaningful record for me.  I think in many artists’ creative lives, there comes a moment where you realize that it’s time to take your leap off the deep end to define your sound and commit to it with such a purpose that you’re willing to embrace whatever comes after.  I’m so proud of this music in a way that feels new to me, and I think that’s been one of the greatest gifts to come from taking risks for the first time.  I’m so grateful to have you on this journey with me“

Mako reveals new single, ‘Ocelot’ prior to album release

Mako announced the release of a brand-new, indie track, “Ocelot” which is currently available to stream/download via Ultra Music here.  “Ocelot” marks Mako’s final release prior to his forthcoming sophomore album Fable which is due out in early December.

“Ocelot” opens with a captivating acoustic guitar riff over handclaps and percussion where the artist’s emotive vocal effortlessly drifts.   It then builds with a driving four-on-the-floor rhythm into an electro-pop anthem which is sure to envelop its listeners worldwide.  Following a string of six releases, Mako has proven that his evolution as a music producer is not restrained by one musical genre.

“I started the idea for Fable on a pretty unusual and meaningful trip to Norway, literally stowed away on an empty farm for a little while.  Everything was intense and thoughtful at the time.  My close friends made a surprise trip to meet me in Stockholm after I was done – not much to say here except for a legendary few days of partying.  This song was written about that break in the trip, with us running around town doing god knows what.  I love it for Fable because I personally feel like it’s such an infectious side-note in an otherwise pretty somber and deliberate collection of songs, which is just what that week in Sweden meant to me.”
