Maceo Plex – Cinemax
Merging melodic house with ominous techno, “Cinemax” has become a standout track featured in sets that have had fans and like-minded artists seeking news of its release. The track, which was created amidst the global pandemic, samples Alice Russell and The Quantic Soul Orchestra’s “Pushin’ On,” to symbolize resilience and unity as we move forward into the new year. Alice Russell’s vocal is instantly recognizable as it was used on Oliver Dollar and Jimi Jules’ 2014 house hit “Pushing On,” which peaked at number 15 on the UK singles chart.
“We are leaving the past behind. Time to unify, leave the racism and division behind us. The lyrics tell this story. The song itself is a deep chugger, always building with forwarding momentum.”Maceo Plex
‘Cinemax’ follows a string of acclaimed singles and remixes this year from Maceo Plex including two official remixes for Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, and an official remix of Faithless’s “Synthesizer.” “Cinemax” is a follow-up to the single “Nu World” where all proceeds were donated to the American Civil Liberties Union’s campaign to fight voter suppression in the 2020 US election.
