MUTEK Festival announced that it would be returning in 2020 with over 100 acts for this year’s edition.  The Montreal based festival is scheduled to take place from Sept. 8-13 an will be divided into two parts, the music festival, and the forum.

The festival, which will host over 100 acts and 59 performances with local acts scheduled to be in-person at Place des Arts’ Cinquième Salle and Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) with social distancing measuring in place.  Both local and international acts will be made available to watch on MUTEK’s virtual platform.

There will be a number of series scheduled to take place. The Play series will be held from Sept. 8 to 11 at Place des Arts’ Cinquième Salle with Alexis Langevin-Tétrault, Anne-F Jacques, and GGROUNDD involved.  The Experience series will feature Chris Salter & Alexandre Saunier, Guillaume Coutu-Dumont, Ouri, Zandoli II & the Wasafiri, and more.  Finally, The Nocturne series will be taking place from Sept. 11 to 13 in an immersive 360-degree Satosphère space.

Performances will include Bionautas (Jonas Kopp & Flor del Valle), George Hurd, Joana Gomila, Marina Herlop, Molly, Junichi Akagawa, Hiroaki Umeda, Arushi Jain & Carly Lave, Maotik & Maarten Vos, Grand River & Marco C, Wasted Fates & Future Forward and more.

Further, there will also be an interactive gallery, a screening room presenting content from the MUTEK Forum, and a listening room that is dedicated to audio from the last 20 years of the festival.

In the MUTEK forum, there will be over 30 panels, presentations, and case studies to be involved in that range from a number of topics from artificial intelligence to the impact technology has had on society.
